Mount Tamborine is the result of lava flow from Mt.Warning millions of years ago and is part of the great Caldera.
It is home to an array of quaint style villages stretching along an 8km ridge of the mountain range, in a subtropical landscape. Its beautiful views, botanical gardens, rainforest delight, quiet streams and magical waterfalls, galleries, wineries, tearooms, art & craft, make this a place of magic and wonder. Mount Tamborine means ‘Wild Lime’ and refers to the finger lime trees growing on the mountain. It is also referred to as the ‘island in the sky’ and was inhabited by Aboriginies for the thousands of years. Tamborine was eaten by the Yugambeh people as a thirst quencher and was one of the fresh foods traded to the early settlers for cooking and jam making.
Yugambeh people still walk the land of their ancestors, telling stories of a shared heritage ~ Mount Tamborine ♥
